CSC/Marcello's Maartens eyes Tour of Morocco title
16 May 2007
Team CSC/Marcello’s Jeremy Maartens is hoping to make history by being the first South African to win the Tour of Morocco (Tour du Maroc) for a second time. Maartens won the Tour when he took gold in 2004 and hopes to repeat his victory this year, when the race celebrates its 80th anniversary. Maartens and his CSC/Marcello team mate Chris Willemse Jnr are two of the six-member South African elite road cycling team which will participate in the 10-day tour, regarded as one of the toughest cycling events in Africa. Also included in the national team are Hanco Kachelhoffer (Harmony) and three Exel riders, Nolan Hoffman, Jaco Venter and Johan Rabie. Hendrik Wagenaar will manage the national team at the Tour of Morocco, which takes place from June 8 to 17, 2007.
