CSC in South Africa has secured a significant stake in the local Information Technology services sector since it opened its doors in 1999. The company has earned impressive accolades highlighting its leadership in the sector.
BMI-T research released in late 2003 cited CSC as the third most significant IT outsourcing company in South Africa and as the leading Application Service Provider.
Much of the company’s recent growth has come from securing offshore Business Process Outsourcing assignments through CSC’s global client base. Most of this business is in the financial services sector.
Further offshore work brought into South Africa from CSC’s international clients is for SAP and Oracle applications support and global network security.

Highlights:
- Signed South Africa’s largest IT outsourcing contract with international financial services giant Old Mutual in 1999. The seven-year contract was valued at R130-million.
- Established Enterprise Development Centers – CSC’s centers of excellence specialising in core products, or set of products such as SAP, Oracle, web applications, emerging technologies, legacy applications and integration.
- Entered the retail sector through an IT outsourcing deal with Woolworths in 2002.
- Secured its first multi-million rand offshore Business Processing Outsourcing assignment in March 2003.
- Old Mutual and Nedbank sign a R1.8-billion network outsourcing agreement with CSC and Telkom South Africa in 2005.
